Life Coach Ellie wanted to design a genderless guided journal that balanced minimalism with boldness, and distinctive shape with open space. The journal was created with her loyal audience in mind — twenty-somethings who value aesthetics, introspection, and sharing moments with their online community.

To stand out in a saturated category, I challenged traditional stationery design, instead crafting a unique and sophisticated journal that could act as an extension of the owner’s style — their wardrobe, their homewares, their curated suite of daily essentials. I set out to create a functional, shareable, somewhat wearable piece of art from the outside — in.

Words of Introspection features debossed canvas in two androgynous colour-ways — chocolate and cream, while its sister journal, Words of Lovers, comes in deep red. The logo typeface is customised to create a bespoke and balanced word mark with a sculptural form, whose concentricity connotes its title, and whose formidability is complimented within the journals pages. The demure sans serif has contemporary, distinct stick-and-poke typesetting — art in and of itself — and provides ample space for the mind to wander.
